Caboodlers' Corner: Ask a Book Doctor

In a reading rut? Want to health-check your reading habits?

In our Book Doctor feature, we welcome a guest to prescribe just the right read for any mood or occasion. Do you know a young reader who wants to discover more funny books? Or need recommended reads for your Agatha Christie-loving mum? Our Book Doctors are here to help with reading dilemmas of all kinds!

You might ask...

  • I haven't been reading much literary fiction. I tend to revert back to authors I studied at university such as Ian McEwan and Margaret Atwood. I wondered if you could recommend some current literary fiction? - Victoria

  • I love to read, but my friends think that I’m weird because I read a lot. How can I convince them reading is amazing fun? - Yzabelle

  • How do you choose a book that is out of your comfort zone? - Helen

Got a bookish bothering of your own? Pop your questions in the box below – if we pick yours for the attention of our future Book Doctors, you’ll receive a £15/€20 National Book Token to spend in your favourite bookshop.

In the meantime, head over to Caboodlers' Corner to read answers from past Book Doctors, including Andy Griffiths, Cressida Cowell, Adam Kay, Abi Elphinstone, Giovanna Fletcher, Matt Haig, The Portobello Bookshop, and many more.
